Established in 1987, our client specialises in business communication and, in particular, helping organisations become known as thought leaders. They help their own clients to build strong relationships with their target audiences by communicating their expertise through their three channels to market - Public Relations, Event Management and Conferences.

Now, within their PR arm, they require a bright, creative graduate from a top university to fulfil a media relations role as PR Account Executive. For this position, excellent research and writing skills are essential. The successful candidate will be an academic high performer (minimum ABB at A' level + 2.1 degree) with an analytical mind, outgoing personality, and strong career focus. An understanding and interest in business issues would be advantageous.

An Account Executive will need to demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and to understand quite complex concepts and business issues, although experience is not necessary. Through on the job and formal training, the Account Executive will receive a good grounding in all the fundamental PR skills and start to learn how to develop sometimes complex business arguments in order to generate a media presence for clients. A good level of organisational skills is required, together with excellent written and spoken communication skills, a sense of newsworthiness and an outgoing personality.

As an Account Executive you should develop a good understanding of the media and start to identify client opportunities with particular journalists and publications.

Developing and maintaining relationships with journalists in key account areas (becoming a trusted source of good press material) is crucial and setting up lunches with clients and journalists will be a duty!

Selling-in press releases and ideas for articles into key publications; co-ordinating the distribution of press releases by post and email; and maintaining good quality press lists on databases. (Waymaker and FeaturesExec)

You must have good writing skills and be prepared to work on developing high quality press releases and feature articles.

Applicants MUST possess a strong academic record, 26 A Level UCAS points or equivalent and a 2:1+ degree from a Top 10 University.
